Hello, my name is Andres Salgado, and I am a Mental Health Counselor Intern.
I received my Bachelor’s of Science in Psychology from Fordham University, and I’m currently a graduate student at CUNY Baruch, working towards my Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling. The type of clients I work with are typically individuals interested in seeking growth, motivated, and determined to put in the time and work that therapy requires. I aim to help clients eager to improve their self-perception of themselves as well as their interpersonal relationships.
Often, my clients face challenges related to anxiety, stress, depression, personality, trauma, and other pressing concerns. Using a holistic approach to therapy, I want to work with you collaboratively to determine and brainstorm which methods, goals, options, and ideas will help you best achieve your goals. With this in mind, I strive to provide a space, free of judgment, that allows my clients to explore their most authentic selves as well as their innermost thoughts and emotions. I take full measures to ensure my clients feel supported and empowered during sessions. I believe in helping to identify and apply clients’ strengths in ways that make small positive changes in their lives that feel comfortable. It can be difficult to prioritize your mental health, but I’m so glad you are here taking this step.
I’m interested in helping individuals with anxiety, depression, and everyday life stressors overcome their physical, emotional, and mental struggles. I hope to educate those in my community, helping them to achieve their mental health goals.
My goals are to obtain my master’s in mental health counseling at CUNY Baruch and my license in New York. Afterwards, I plan to open my own private practice! In the last two years, I’ve presented two research projects dedicated to decreasing stress and anxiety in college students and identifying patterns of depression in expecting mothers. Something about me that people don’t know is that I can play the flute, and I enjoy playing it, so long as my neighbors don’t complain. In my free time, I enjoy kickboxing, riding my bike, and hanging with my friends!
